ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team was represented by four throwers competing in the hammer throw on the first of the Len Paddock Invitational on Thursday (May 3) at Ferry Field.

Junior Erin Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) led the charge, taking third place with a throw of 53.03 meters (173-11.75).

Fifth-year senior Emily Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) and junior/sophomore Joanna Fleming (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with marks of 52.12 meters (171-0) and 46.91 meters (153-10.75).

Junior/sophomore Kari Prena (West Bloomfield Twp., Mich./Walled Lake Central) took eighth place with a toss of 43.61 meters (143-1) .

The four throwers and the rest of the Wolverines will be back in action tomorrow (Friday, May 4) for the final day of the Len Paddock Invitational. Action will begin at noon at Ferry Field.
