Busbee recorded a personal-best mark of 6.13 meters (20-1.25) in the long jump, while Tobel cleared 4.07m (13-4.25). Tobel made solid attempts at 14 feet, which would have been a new school record, but missed all three attempts.

In the final event of the day, Michigan got three points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, including two points from junior Alex Leptich (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline), who finished seventh in 10:20.54. Junior Megan Weschler (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt) made a push in the final 20 meters to pass sophomore Brook Handler (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) for eighth place, as Handler finished ninth. The Wolverines' 4x100-meter relay slashed its previous season-best time by .61 seconds, using a time of 45.35 to advance to tomorrow's finals. The relay, which consisted of junior Amber Smith (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood), freshman Cindy Ofili (Ypsilanti, Mich./Huron), Busbee and senior Charlotte Cahill (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington), finished second in heat one to secure an automatic-qualifying time.
Michigan will be represented by four student-athletes in tomorrow's 1,500-meter final, as senior/junior Jillian Smith (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional), senior Rebecca Addison (Spring Lake, Mich./Grand Haven), fifth-year senior Amanda Eccleston (Adrian, Mich./Tecumseh) and sophomore/freshman Shannon Osika (Waterford, Mich./Mott) each finished in the top three of their respective heats to automatically qualify. Smith (4:25.25) and Addison (4:25.59) finished 1-2 in heat one, Eccleston (4:25.56) won heat two and Osika (4:26.71) took second in heat three.
Addison also earned a spot in the 800-meter finals after, as she won her heat with a time of 2:08.75 to automatically qualify. Addison went out strong and led from start to finish in her heat.

In her Big Ten Outdoor Championship debut, junior/sophomore Elly Mioduszewski (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) placed just outside scoring position in ninth with a personal-best mark of 41.18 meters (135-1), which topped her pervious lifetime best by nearly 10 feet.
