Leading the Way
Katie Jazwinski leads the U-M squad with five individual wins during the 2001 indoor season. Teyonna Simpson (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose HS) is second with four titles. Tasha Phillips (Sarasota, Fla./Booker HS), Adrena Williams (Berkeley, Calif./James Logan HS) and Regine Caruthers are tied with three victories this season. Rachel Sturtz (Traverse, Mich./Traverse HS), Ursula Taylor, April Phillips (Fraser, Mich./Fraser HS) and Nicole DeNamur (Algoma, Wis./Algoma HS) have won two individual events thus far during the indoor season for a well-balanced Wolverine attack. Williams, who won two events in the same meet (Red Simmons, Jan. 20), is the only Wolverine to pull off the trick.
Katie Jazwinski is the only Wolverine perfect in an event this season, as she won the mile twice (Feb. 3 and Feb. 17) in her only two appearances.
