ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Rebecca Addison and Amanda Eccleston, who recently wrapped up their collegiate careers for the University of Michigan women's track and field team, each qualified to compete at the USA Track and Field Championships, which will take place from June 19-23 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Addison will run the 800-meter run, while Eccleston will compete in the 1,500-meter run.
The meet will serve as the Team USA qualifier for this year's IAAF World Championships, which will be held Aug. 10-18 in Moscow, Russia. Eccleston will compete in the first round of the 1,500-meter run on Thursday (June 20) at 4:40 p.m. CDT, while the finals will be contested on Saturday (June 22) at 4:46 p.m. CDT. Addison's 800-meter first round will take place on Thursday (June 20) at 3:30 p.m. CDT, followed by the semifinals on Friday (June 21) at 8:08 p.m. CDT and the finals on Sunday (June 23) at 3:04 p.m. CDT.
At the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Eccleston became the first Wolverine to earn All-America first team honors at the outdoor meet since 2009 (Geena Gall, Amber Hay, Tiffany Ofili, Bettie Wade). The Big Ten 1,500-meter champion finished fifth in the 1,500 meters at the national meet to score four points and help U-M place as a team for the first time since 2009.
Addison, the 2013 NCAA East Region 1,500-meter champion, went on to finish 23rd at the national meet and earn All-America honorable mention recognition. She was recently selected to the Capital One Academic All-District V first team for the second consecutive year.
Eccleston and Addison were also members of the NCAA and Big Ten champion distance medley relay team that set a new Big Ten meet record (11:11.41) and school record (10:56.46).
Former Wolverines, Geena Gall (800 meters) and Emily Pendleton (discus), will also compete in the meet.
