Fowler Named USA Throws Coach for Pan-American Sports Festival

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's track and field assistant coach Sandy Fowler has been selected to represent Team USA as an assistant coach at the 2014 Pan-American Sports Festival, which will take place from Aug. 15-16 in Mexico City, Mexico. Fowler will coach all men's and women's throwers for Team USA.

Fowler will add to her international coaching resume, which most recently includes serving as an assistant coach for the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia. She also represented Team USA as its head coach at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.

Fowler also has international experience as an athlete, having served as an alternate in the shot put on the 1980 United States Olympic team. She also competed internationally for the United States at the 1981 World University Games in Romania and at the 1981 Pan Pacific Games in New Zealand.
