ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's track and field head coach James Henry announced today (Wednesday, Dec. 15) that redshirt senior Alisha Cole (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac), redshirt junior Allison Liske (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland East) and senior Danielle Tauro (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) will all serve as captains for the 2011 indoor and outdoor season.
"I am happy with who the team chose to serve as captains for the upcoming season," Henry said. "We have a balanced group of captains, with a sprinter, a thrower and a distance runner representing the different areas of our team. I think they will do a great job helping lead the team this season."
Tauro repeats as captain for the second consecutive season and is the only member of the current team to win two All-America honors, as part of distance medley relay teams in 2008 and 2009. Liske grabbed a fourth-place finish in the shot put at the 2010 Big Ten Outdoor Championships and fifth in the event at the indoor championships. Cole was a 2009 All-Big Ten first team honoree after running on the victorious 4x100-meter relay team.
The Wolverines will kick off the 2011 indoor season down the street at the EMU Open on Jan. 8 before returning home the following weekend to host "The Dual" against Ohio State on Jan. 15.
