Skylar Lopas is entering his first season as the volunteer assistant coach for the Michigan volleyball team.
Lopas comes to Ann Arbor from Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, Fla., where he was the assistant coach of the varsity men's volleyball team. He also coached the Orlando Gold Volleyball club team since October 2013. Lopas was the head coach of the 18-year-old squad and the assistant to the 14 and under team. He also was a varsity assistant coach for the women's team and a substitute teacher at Freedom High School in Orlando in the fall of 2013.
Lopas is no stranger to the University of Michigan, having worked the U-M volleyball camp in the summer of 2013.
A 2013 graduate of Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla., Lopes was a captain of the Royals his senior season on the men's volleyball squad. He averaged 2.10 kills and 1.11 blocks per set in helping Warner to an 18-6 record in 2013.
