TEMPE, Ariz. -- Junior outside hitter Alex Hunt (Granger, Ind./South Bend St. Joseph) tallied 23 kills and junior libero Sloane Donhoff (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) notched 24 digs to lead the No. 21-ranked University of Michigan volleyball team to a 3-1 decision (25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21) over Utah on Saturday (Sept. 18) in second-day action at Arizona State's Sheraton Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.

Hunt once again anchored the U-M offense with her second consecutive match with at least 20 kills, while Donhoff eclipsed 1,000 digs in her career after picking up 24 against the Utes. Redshirt sophomore right side Claire McElheny (Westfield, Ind./Brebeuf) went for 11 terminations, while junior middle blocker Courtney Fletcher (Duluth, Ga./Northview) added nine. Senior setter Lexi Zimmerman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) had 50 assists, 10 digs and six kills in directing the U-M offense.

With U-M hanging on to a 19-18 lead in the fourth set, a Fletcher kill and block by Hunt and Fletcher on consecutive plays put Michigan in control of the set. Following a Utah timeout, the Wolverines scored four of the next seven points, taking a 25-22 victory on an ace from redshirt freshman defensive specialist Brittany Lee (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral).

The Wolverines dropped the third set after taking an 8-4 lead. Utah scored two points with the score knotted at 23 in a 25-23 win.

Michigan never trailed in the second set, using five kills from Hunt and four from Fletcher in a 25-17 victory. U-M jumped out early on an ace from Fletcher and kept the lead the entire set.

Tied at 12 in the first set, Michigan scored seven of the next 10 points to take a 19-15 lead. The Wolverines kept at least a three-point cushion the rest of the way for a 25-20 win. Hunt once again provided the spark for the offense, putting down five kills as U-M hit .406 in the first frame.

Michigan will conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule tonight against Pacific at 5 p.m. MST/PDT.

• With her 24 digs, Sloane Donhoff became the second U-M player to dig up 20 in a match this season, joining Lexi Zimmerman, who dug 20 against Toledo. Donhoff recorded her eighth career match with at least 20 digs.

Alex Hunt had her second consecutive match with at least 20 kills. She has hit for at least 20 four times this season-- against Toledo, Oregon State, Arizona State and Utah. In the ASU Sheraton Tournament (two matches), Hunt has accumulated 45 kills on a .488 attack percentage.
