IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The 19th-ranked University of Michigan volleyball team earned a 25-18, 25-20, 25-14 win at Iowa Friday night (Nov. 15) inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Freshman Abby Cole (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) knocked down a team-high 10 kills, junior Lexi Dannemiller (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) dished out 33 assists, senior Jennifer Cross (Scarborough, Ontario/Birchmount Park Collegiate) posted a team-high four blocks, and sophomore Tiffany Morales (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) picked up nine digs.

Michigan took the first set over the Hawkeyes after hitting .400 and getting five kills from sophomore Ally Davis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central). Senior Molly Toon's (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) termination made it 4-2, and a Cole kill put the Maize and Blue up, 6-3. Cross' kill on an Iowa overpass made it 11-6, and a Hawkeye attack error put U-M up, 14-8. Fifth-year senior Brittany Lee's (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) service ace then gave Michigan an 18-12 lead, and Davis had kills at 22-16 and 23-17. Finally, Michigan closed out the set on a Hawkeye service error.

A Cross ace gave Michigan an early 2-0 lead in the second set, before she combined with Dannemiller for a block for a 9-6 Wolverine lead. That was part of a 4-0 mini run capped by a Davis kill at 11-6. An Erwin service ace then made it 14-7, and back-to-back Cole kills put Michigan up, 19-11. After senior Lexi Erwin (Spring, Texas/Woodlands College Park) and sophomore Krystalyn Goode (River Hills, Wis./Nicolet) combined on a block to give Michigan a 21-16 lead, Iowa went on a 5-0 run. However, Cole pounded down two straight kills for a 23-16 Wolverine lead. Iowa again went on a 4-0 run, but a Cole kill ended the set at 25-20. Cole had six kills in the set, while Dannemiller recorded 15 assists.

The Wolverines routed the Hawkeyes in the third set as Iowa's attack had 10 errors, and U-M had three service aces. A Cross ace made it 3-0 Wolverines, and a Dannemiller ace put Michigan up 7-3. Goode capped an 8-0 run as U-M went up 12-3. Davis had a kill at 17-6, and freshman Gabbie Bulic (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) bashed down a termination at 23-12. The Wolverines eventually finished off the set at 25-14 on a Hawkeye ball-handling error.

Michigan hit .298 for the match and had six service aces and 6.5 blocks. The Wolverines also won the dig battle, 41-37.

U-M closes out its four-match road trip this Saturday (Nov. 16) at No. 9 Nebraska. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST (8:30 p.m. EST) at the newly renovated Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb.
