Quartet to Compete in U.S. Women's National Team Tryouts

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Junior Lexi Dannemiller (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West), sophomores Ally Davis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and Krystalyn Goode (River Hills, Wis./Nicolet) and freshman Abby Cole (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) of the University of Michigan volleyball team will try out for the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National Team this Friday through Sunday (Feb. 21-23) at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Head coach Mark Rosen also will be in Colorado Springs as an evaluator for the teams.

Dannemiller, a setter, averaged 10.84 assists and 2.09 digs per set in 2013. She had six 50-plus assist matches, including a season high 58 on two occasions (Sept. 21 vs. Ohio; Nov. 10 vs. Northwestern). Dannemiller also had nine double-doubles on the season, including a 48-assist, 14-dig performance in the NCAA Tournament first-round match vs. LSU (Dec. 6). She was named a Big Ten Setter of the Week twice in 2013 (Sept. 9 and Oct. 21). Dannemiller also earned AVCA honorable mention All-America honors.

Davis, an outside hitter, played in 20 matches for the Maize and Blue in 2013, averaging 1.88 kills per set. She had 19 total blocks, including three in a win over Iowa (Oct. 12). She also had a career-high 13 kills in the win over the Hawkeyes to go along with a .429 hitting percentage. Davis had 10 kills and a pair of blocks vs. Wisconsin (Nov. 22) and had eight terminations against Nebraska (Oct. 11).

Goode, a middle blocker, played and started in all 32 matches for Michigan last season. She led the team with 128 total blocks, averaging 1.03 blocks per set. Goode also averaged 1.29 kills per set and had a .259 hitting percentage. She posted a career-high 13 kills and a .407 hitting percentage in a five-set win over Ohio (Sept. 21). Goode had seven blocks in five-set matches against Texas A&M (Sept. 13) and Florida State (Sept. 14) and recorded six blocks in the NCAA Tournament first-round match against LSU (Dec. 6).

Cole, a right side/opposite, played in 31 matches with 22 starts for U-M in her freshman season. She averaged 2.14 kills per set and had 96 total blocks. Cole was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Sept. 9 after having a match-high 16 kills and a .682 hitting percentage in a four-set win over Oregon State (Sept. 6). She had 16 kills in a four-set win at Northwestern (Nov. 10) and had 15 terminations in a win at Michigan State (Oct. 23). Cole had 13 double-digit kill performances and has led Michigan in blocks on seven occasions.

The U.S. Collegiate National team, formerly the Women's Senior A2 team, is for athletes in college and with college eligibility remaining for the 2014 collegiate season.
