ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Fifteen matches in Ann Arbor and 14 against teams that participated in the 2012 NCAA Tournament highlight the University of Michigan volleyball team's 2013 schedule, it was announced this morning (Monday, May 13). The Wolverines are coming off their first-ever national semifinal appearance in 2012 and return 13 letterwinners from that squad in the fall.
The Maize and Blue opens the season on Aug. 30-31 at the Xavier Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio, against host Xavier, Clemson and Northern Kentucky. The Wolverines then open their home schedule with the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge, facing Oregon State on Friday, Sept. 6, and 2012 national runner-up Oregon Saturday, Sept. 7, at Cliff Keen Arena. Times will be announced for those matches at a later date. U-M makes the trip to College Station, Texas, for the Aggie Invite Sept. 13-14, facing Siena, host Texas A&M and Florida State.
Michigan will host the second-annual "Block Out Bullying" match on Friday, Sept. 20, at 11:30 a.m. inside Crisler Center against Marshall. That match is part of the Michigan Invitational, which includes matches against Maryland (Friday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m.) and Ohio (Saturday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.) at Cliff Keen Arena.
The Wolverines open the Big Ten schedule on Friday, Sept. 27, at Ohio State at 7 p.m. The Wolverines have 10 home Big Ten contests, highlighted by matches against Nebraska (Friday, Oct. 11), Penn State (Friday, Nov. 1), Ohio State (Saturday, Nov. 2) and Michigan State (Wednesday, Nov. 27).
The NCAA Tournament begins the first weekend in December (Dec. 5-7), with the first two rounds on campus sites. The regional semifinals and finals are on Dec. 13-14 with the national semifinals and championship Thursday, Dec. 19, and Saturday, Dec. 21, at Key Arena in Seattle, Wash.
Ticket Information: Season tickets are now on sale for the 2013 Michigan volleyball season. Reserved seats are available for $90, while an adult general-admission season ticket is $60. A general-admission season ticket for youth and seniors is $50. Those who do not currently hold season tickets and would like to purchase them can buy new season tickets now on MGoBlue.com/tickets. Current season-ticket holders' online applications will be available in June.
