WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Junior middle blocker Jennifer Cross (Scarborough, Ont./Birchmount Park Collegiate) of the University of Michigan volleyball team was one of 34 athletes selected to the Canadian National A and B Teams recently following a four-day camp held May 21-25.
The 34 athletes will train together for a month before the A team is officially selected in late June. The athletes selected to that team will continue to train while taking on Argentina in a series of exhibition matches from July 7-10.
Team Canada is preparing to compete in the Pan Am Cup, which runs July 11-21 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The team is attempting to qualify for the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix.
In 2011, Cross started all 35 matches at middle blocker and recorded at least 10 kills in 10 matches while leading the Wolverines in blocks 26 times. A 2010 Big Ten All-Freshman Team honoree, Cross has appeared in all 68 matches the past two seasons and paced U-M in blocking during both campaigns.
