Molly Toon provides the first blog in a series that will outline U-M's 13-day tour of Brazil and Argentina, which will include nine matches across the two South American countries.
We're finally here!!
After waiting for it and talking about coming here for a while, we finally made it! Yesterday was a little hectic, with a combination of excitement, anticipation, and nerves on our way to the airport.
Once we got there we followed the normal routine, just
follow Leisa and do what she says. Once we got to our gate a bunch of us joined in on a game of Catch Phrase, surely entertaining for all of the people at the gates around us. We are not the quietest group.
All was going well until we were all comfy in our seats, and then
we hear the flight attendant, "We are going to have to wait to take
off. There is an overhead bin door that is off the tracks. There is
a maintenance man on the way to look at it and he should be here in 15 to 20 minutes." An hour and 15 minutes later, they are still fidgeting around with the door.
Our comfortable two-hour layover in Newark had
suddenly turned into a 15-minute window to deboard, find the shuttle
to the right terminal, grab food, go to the bathroom, and get to the
gate. It was quite the scene I am sure when our swarm of Maize and
Blue (including staff) was sprinting through the halls of the terminal at 9 p.m. Thankfully, we made it to the gate and hopped on the plane in time. With the 11-hour plane ride ahead of us, the entire team searched the individual TV's for all of the movies that we wanted to watch, when in actuality most of us were sleeping an hour into the flight. So much for a movie marathon! I was probably one of the first ones to be knocked out and I was lucky to have slept through the entire flight.
Now that we are all here, we are just very excited to
see more of the city and experience all of the new things that Buenos Aires has to offer! It should be a great trip!
