COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Sophomore setter Lexi Dannemiller (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) of the University of Michigan volleyball team helped the USA White team to the gold medal in the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Tournament pool play on July 4. The tournament took place in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships.
After going 0-3 in pool play, the White team rebounded for two consecutive victories once tournament play started to secure the gold medal. In the semifinal round, Dannemiller and the White team knocked off USA Blue in four sets (25-16, 20-25, 25-22, 25-14). The sophomore setter played in three of the four sets, scoring four points and helping her team to a .321 attack percentage.
Dannemiller and the White team wrapped up the gold medal with a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-22, 25-23) over the Gold team. Dannemiller appeared in the third set, helping her team put down 11 kills on a .219 attack percentage.
Dannemiller and the Wolverines kick off the 2012 campaign against Nicholls State on Aug. 24 in Columbia, Mo.
