ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan volleyball alumna Lexi Erwin (Spring, Texas/Woodlands College Park) has signed a contract to play professionally for HPK Naiset in the FINN League in Hammeenlinna, Finland.
Erwin (2010-13) ended her Michigan career with 1,467 kills, which was good for fourth all-time on the U-M career kills list. She was named to the Division I Volleyball Championships all-tournament team as well as AVCA All-America honorable mention and All-Big Ten her junior season. Erwin had 20 double-digit kill performances in 2013 while averaging 2.90 kills and 2.14 digs a set. She holds single-season records for kills (614) and attack attempts (1,701), both occurring during her junior year.
"It was scary and nerve-racking my first few days here, but the team and coaching staff has welcomed me very nicely, and I am slowly, but surely, finding my place on the team," Erwin said. "Michigan definitely prepared me for the technical aspect of volleyball very well. Also, I am thankful for the discipline Michigan taught me, because it is very important to be focused at all times."
