ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan junior setter Lexi Zimmerman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) was tabbed the Big Ten offensive player of the week Monday (Sept. 7) after guiding the Wolverines to a perfect weekend at the Xavier Invitational. The honor marks the first in the career of Zimmerman and first for a U-M volleyball player since Stesha Selsky (2004-07) earned weekly defensive honors Sept. 3, 2007.

Zimmerman led the Michigan offense to a combined .300 hitting percentage in wins over Tennessee, Xavier and Notre Dame to run the team's season record to 5-0. In the tournament, the junior averaged 12 assists per set, while also contributing 2.1 kills and 3.4 digs on a .417 hitting percentage. Zimmerman notched her first career triple-double against the Volunteers on Friday (Sept. 4), putting up 42 assists along with 11 kills and 17 digs. Against the host Musketeers on Saturday (Sept. 5), she recorded a season-high 47 assists, which also ties the Big Ten's mark for most helpers in a four-set match this season. Zimmerman capped the weekend by leading the Wolverines to a sweep over the Fighting Irish on Sunday (Sept. 6), putting up 43 assists with nine kills and seven digs as Michigan combined for 57 kills on .390 hitting, marking the conference's highest three-set kills total this season.

Zimmerman and the Wolverines will be in action five times this week, beginning with a 7 p.m. tilt Wednesday (Sept. 9) at Eastern Michigan. MGoBlue.com will provide live audio, a live blog and live game statistics of the match. Michigan makes its home debut this weekend (Sept. 11-12) when it hosts the Michigan Challenge at Keen Arena.
