PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior Lexi Dannemiller (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) has been named the Big Ten Conference's Setter of the Week, it was announced this afternoon (Monday, Oct. 21). Dannemiller earned the honor for the second time this season and fourth time in her career.
Dannemiller averaged 11.86 assists per set as Michigan swept No. 15 Wisconsin (Oct. 18) and lost in four to No. 10 Minnesota (Oct. 19) on the road. In the win against the Badgers, she had 37 assists to go along with eight digs and two blocks. She also guided Michigan to its first-ever three-set victory at Wisconsin. Dannemiller then did it all against Minnesota, posting 47 assists to go along with 11 digs, three service aces and three blocks. On the year, Dannemiller is averaging 10.68 assists, which are good for third in the Big Ten and 2.03 digs a set.
Dannemiller also earned the Setter of the Week award on Sept. 9, 2013, Nov. 5, 2012 and Nov. 12, 2012. In other weekly Big Ten awards, Purdue's Val Nichol was named Player of the Week, while Wisconsin's Annemarie Hickey was the Defensive Player of the Week. Minnesota's Hannah Tapp was named the Freshman of the Week.
Michigan wraps up its three-match road trip Wednesday night (Oct. 23) as the Wolverines take on in-state rival Michigan State. First serve at Jenison Field House in East Lansing is scheduled for 7 p.m.
