Question of the Week: What animal would you be and why?

Nov. 14, 2011

Each week during the 2011 season, will ask each member of the University of Michigan volleyball team the same question as the "Question of the Week."

Week 13: If you could be an animal, what animal would you be and why?

Karlee Bruck - I would be a giraffe. Not only for the obvious reason of being tall, but when I played for CVC, my coach decided it would be funny to give me the nickname Melman because it is the name of the giraffe in the movie "Madagascar." The giraffe also had an inhaler, which was awesome considering I have one as well. It ended up sticking with me and to this day, the girls and coaches from that team call me Melman.

Claire McElheny - If I could be animal, I would be a bear for a few reasons, but mainly because they get to hibernate.

Brittany Lee - I would be a Pegasus. I would put all horses and unicorns to shame because I have the ability to fly. Also, as a Pegasus, I would get to hang out at Mount Olympus and swap stories of valor with the gods. Zeus would be my partner in crime!

Ally Sabol - I would be my cat at home, Joey, because for some reason everyone wants to love him. He doesn't care and just chills all day long.

Lexi Dannemiller - If I could be any animal, I would be an iguana so I could live in Hawaii and change colors.

Michelle McMahon - I would be a dog -- in particular my dog Goober. I am jealous daily of the lifestyle he has. My mom sends me pictures of him almost every week. Like this past week, he was passed out on the floor, and a few weeks ago, I received one of him posing in a cute Michigan football Halloween costume. Literally all he does is sleep, eat, go for occasional car rides and walk with Kitty Kat (my mom) in the morning. Who wouldn't want to live that life?

Olivia Reed - I would be a dolphin. They are my favorite animal and just seem to always be having fun. I would get to swim in the waves of boats going by with other dolphins and explore the ocean.

Lexi Erwin - If I could be any animal I would be a dog! They have the best life. They can play whenever they want, sleep at any time, eat all day and people clean up after them! It is my dream!

Lauren Teknipp - I would want to be a pink Galapagos Land Iguana because they are almost considered distinct enough to become their own species, and they only live in this one volcano in Galapagos. Also there are only about 100 left living, and they are pink!

Alex Hunt - I would be a cheetah because I think I could work the spots and they are fast, which I could have used to my advantage when running the shuttle this year.

Courtney Fletcher - I would be a dinosaur. I tend to move awkwardly at times and have been told that it looks dinosaur-like. The problem is deciding what species I would be. I could be an Apatosaurus since I have a long neck or a Tyrannosaurus Rex because I have short arms. I say t-rex because there is more room for interpretative movement and exaggerated facial expressions.

Sloane Donhoff - I would be a cheetah because they are SO fast, and I think it would be awesome to be able to run that fast! And not to mention, they are pretty.

Molly Toon - I would be a turtle because they live for such a long time and get to swim all day.

Catherine Yager - I would be a dog because they are loved by their owners and get to lie around and be petted all day! They have no worries!

Jennifer Cross - If I could be any animal I would chose a maple leaf because, even though it is not an animal, it is technically living. My teammates Brittany Lee and Molly Toon like to make fun of Canada, including our awesome maple leafs. They are amazing, America is just jealous. And yes I spelled it "leafs" not "leaves" because I'm supporting my sports team. Go Leafs go!
