Question of the Week: What is your favorite thing about NCAAs?

Dec. 5, 2011

Each week during the 2011 season, will ask each member of the University of Michigan volleyball team the same question as the "Question of the Week."

Week 16: What is your favorite thing about the NCAA Tournament?

Sloane Donhoff -- My favorite thing is all of the excitement that surrounds the tourney-- practice is more competitive and games are more intense because it is all on the line. This is what we work so hard for throughout the year, and even if you have a so-so regular conference season, as long as you make it into the tournament, anyone can have the chance to win it all!

Claire McElheny -- My favorite part of the NCAA Tournament has been the culmination of everything we've been working on and gone through this season. We always say we want to be playing the best volleyball at the end of the year, and that's what we've done thus far in the tourney. The Sweet 16 is only the beginning.

Molly Toon -- I think I would have to say that I love that it's a fresh start, kind of its own season, and you are playing in new places and facing new opponents that you don't know a lot about. It is awesome because it is a fresh slate and doesn't matter how Big Tens went. It's a whole new beast and you have the freedom to create whatever ending you want! And of course I don't mind the team bonding (making the music videos)!

Courtney Fletcher -- It feels a lot like preseason again! After playing everyone in the Big Ten twice, it's a lot of fun to travel somewhere you might not have been before and play a team you've never seen. It's nerve-wracking (especially knowing that each match could be the last!), but there is a new excitement surrounding each match. The team really comes together too -- pregame dance-offs get more and more crazy, pregame meals are spent reminiscing about the past year and we all just enjoy each other's company.

Lauren Teknipp -- My favorite thing is playing teams that we normally wouldn't and seeing how we match up against their different style of play.

Lexi Dannemiller -- Since this is my first NCAA Tournament, all I have known so far is winning. So I guess my favorite part about the tournament is winning.

Ally Sabol -- My favorite part is the different schools we get to go to that we usually don't play. Especially this past weekend because we went to California where I'm from and my parents and sister got to come watch us.

Michelle McMahon -- My favorite part of the NCAA Tournament is the annual music video that (Courtney) Fletcher produces. It's really nice when we get a chance to show off our performance/dancing skills, and it is something I take a lot of pride in.

Alex Hunt -- My favorite part of the NCAA Tournament this year has been traveling to warm places. I love wearing shorts in December!

Catherine Yager -- My favorite thing about being in the NCAA Tournament is being able to travel to these warm weather places!

Jennifer Cross -- My favorite thing about the NCAA Tournament is showing the rest of the country what the Big Ten is all about. We get to showcase what is going on in our conference and compete against others from around the country. I also love being able to visit new places that we might not get a chance to play at.

Lexi Erwin -- My favorite part of the NCAA Tournament is that we get to travel to some really cool places! Last year I got to go to Seattle, and this year we got to go to Palo Alto, both places I have never been before! I can't wait to get to Gainesville, where it is warm also!

Olivia Reed -- My favorite thing is the excitement of knowing that each game could be your last, so everyone is playing all out to advance. It is nice getting to play teams outside of the Big Ten again.

Brittany Lee -- My favorite thing about the NCAA Tournament is traveling with the team, especially strength coach Mike Favre because he has great calves!
