ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 13th-ranked University of Michigan women's water polo team dominated the field at the 2012 Wolverine Invitational, winning all six matches by a combined 81-20 margin over two days of competition at Canham Natatorium. The Wolverines (15-9) finished the weekend with a 14-9 victory against Concordia (Calif.) and a 14-2 win over Mercyhurst College on Sunday (March 18).

Against Mercyhurst, U-M started strong, taking a 4-1 lead after the first period and increasing the margin to 8-1 at halftime. The Wolverines out-scored the Lakers, 6-1, in the second half. Junior Lauren Colton (Tustin, Calif./Tesoro HS), senior Claire Ivry (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte HS) and sophomore Laura Milstead (Hermossa Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) tallied two goals, with Colton scoring hers in the first period, Ivry in the second and Milstead in the fourth. Eight other members of the team registered goals. Senior goalkeeper Tara Brigham (Baytown, Texas/Sterling HS) made eight saves in 10 shots.

In the early morning match-up with Concordia-Irvine (Calif.) at 8 a.m., Michigan used a balance scoring effort to post 14-9 victory. The Wolverines jumped out to a 4-2 advantage after the first period and doubled up Concordia by gaining an 8-4 halftime edge. U-M netted three goals in the final two periods to finish the 14-9 win. Senior Meagan Cobb (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) and Lauren Colton posted hat tricks for the Wolverines and junior Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista HS) added two goals in the win. Junior goalkeeper Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado HS) made nine saves in the contest.

Michigan will return to the pool this Wednesday (March 21) at Notre Dame (Ohio). The match will be played at 7 p.m.
