SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The 10th-ranked University of Michigan water polo team remained unbeaten in CWPA Division competition by defeating Notre Dame (Ohio), 15-6, on Wednesday (March 21) at Mellon Pool.

The Wolverines used a 7-0 run to end the first quarter and closed out the game on a 6-2 spurt that extended from late in the third to the final buzzer. Kelsey Nolan (San Jose, Calif./Leland) scored a game-high four goals on six attempts. She added a team-best three assists to go with two steals and a drawn kickout.

Highlighting 10 players recording a score, Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) and Lauren Colton (Mission Viejo, Calif./Tesoro) added two goals apiece. Michigan drew nine kickouts, with the defense keyed by Golden and Meagan Cobb (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville). Golden tallied six steals and Cobb posted three.

Goalkeepers Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado), Morgan Turner (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills), and Tara Brigham (Baytown Texas/Sterling) shared time in the cage, finishing with a combine 17 blocks. Adamson posted seven blocks, including one during a 6-on-5. She also tacked on two assists and three steals, picking up her third win in five days. Turner played the third quarter, finishing with six blocks, and Brigham closed out the game with four blocks, including two saves on a 6-on-5.

After trailing 1-0, Michigan scored seven unanswered in the first quarter behind two goals apiece from Golden and Nolan. Golden scored two of Michigan's first three goals, connecting shots at 6:55 (1-1) and 5:27 (3-1).

With a 3-1 lead in favor of U-M, Nolan hit a backhand from the right side (4-1) and followed two U-M scores (6-1) with a strike in the final seconds to give the Wolverines a 7-1 lead at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, Notre Dame (Ohio) retaliated with two scores to close the gap, 7-3, with 4:01 remaining in the half. Colton answered with a floater to snap the drought with 1:55 left and Lauren Dudley (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) added a score with 20 seconds remaining. The Wolverines held a 9-4 advantage at the break.

For the remainder of the game, Michigan held NDC to two markers, outscoring the Falcons, 6-2, down the stretch, including a 4-0 spurt in the fourth. Nolan netted two in the third, with Laura Milstead (Hermosa Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) adding a pair in the fourth.

Next, Michigan will host Indiana in a CWPA Western Division game on Saturday, March 31, at noon inside Canham Natatorium. The match-up will be televised live on Big Ten Network.
