PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan water polo team bounced back from a one-goal deficit in the first half to end the season with a 10-7 win over Brown on Sunday (April 29) to take third place at the CWPA Eastern Championship held inside the Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.

Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Danville) scored five goals on seven attempts, including consecutive scores in the third. Defensively, she finished with five steals, one field block and drawn kickout.

Katie Hazelrigg (Rolling Hills, Calif./Chadwick), Audrey Pratt (Burlingame, Calif./Burlingame), Lauren Dudley (Okemos, Mich./Okemos), Claire Ivry (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) and Kelsey Nolan (San Jose, Calif./Leland) each posted a goal to help an offense that recorded four markers on the power play.

Morgan Turner (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) picked up the win after coming in to start the second half. She recorded three blocks, including one that defused Brown's offense in the final 17 seconds.

Michigan held an early lead in the first quarter, with Golden registering two markers. She converted a goal in the center at 6:04 and then punched in her second from two meters away at 2:30. In the final minute and after a Brown tally, U-M added another when Hazelrigg netted a one with 26 seconds remaining to take a 3-1 advantage into the second frame.

In the second quarter, Michigan missed several scoring opportunities and committed costly turnovers, giving up three goals to Brown to trail at the break, 4-3.

For the third, Michigan fell behind by the largest margin, 5-3, at the 6:59 mark. With 6:39 left, the Wolverines scored the first of three goals behind Golden.

Golden's first strike of the frame was a result of a 6-on-5 power play, before she zipped in two goals, less than 30 seconds apart, from five meters out, giving U-M a 6-5 lead at 3:28.

To end the third, Brown tied it up at six, but the Maize and Blue outscored the Bears, 4-1, in the fourth. Pratt, Dudley, and Ivry scored to push U-M out front and Nolan's goal at the buzzer with an empty Brown net locked in the win.

U-M concludes its 2012 season with a 23-12 record and a CWPA Western Division title.
