BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- University of Michigan senior Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista HS) earned her second straight Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) weekly accolade, netting Western Division Defensive Player of the Week honors in recognition of her effort on U-M's California trip, the league announced Thursday (Jan. 31). Golden was named Player of the Week in the season's first week.
Golden posted eight steals, a pair of field blocks and four goals during the Wolverines' West Coast trip. She netted singles goals against both No. 1 Stanford and No. 4 California while adding a pair of markers at No. 9 San Jose State.
Golden holds 10 total weekly honors from the league office, earning three Defensive Player of the Week honors plus three Player of the Week and three Rookie of the Week accolades.
She now boasts 12 goals on the season and moved into fourth place on the Wolverines' career goal-scoring list with 160 with her marker against California.
The Wolverines will return to action -- and return to California -- for UC San Diego's Triton Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9-10, in San Diego, Calif. U-M kicks off the tournament against Long Beach State at 12:30 p.m. PST on Feb. 9 at the Canyonview Pool.
