BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Junior Audrey Pratt (Burlingame, Calif./Burlingame HS) and freshman Barbara Lanier (Lafayette, Calif./Acalanes) of the University of Michigan water polo team earned a pair of CWPA Western Division Player of the Week honors in recognition of their play at the Fluid Four, the league announced on Thursday (Feb. 28). Pratt was named Player of the Week, while Lanier was tabbed the Rookie Player of the Week. It is the first career weekly citation for both Wolverine players.
Pratt posted three goals, an assist and a pair of steals in U-M's opening game against 10th-ranked Long Beach State (Feb. 23). The effort marked her fourth career hat trick and tied her career best. Pratt, who did not appear in the Wolverines' tournament victory over Washington & Jefferson, has 10 goals on the season and 54 for her career.
Lanier scored four goals and added two assists and a steal during the Fluid Four tournament, recording all of her statistics in the nightcap against Washington & Jefferson. It was her first collegiate multi-goal game and upped her season goal total to five.
Michigan has earned CWPA Player of the Week honors following all four weekends of competition. In addition to Pratt and Lanier, senior Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista HS) has garnered a pair of Player of the Week accolades, while senior goalkeeper Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado HS) and freshman Bryce Beckwith (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis HS) have earned one Defensive Player of the Week and one Rookie Player of the Week awards, respectively.
The Wolverines head to Honolulu, Hawaii, tomorrow for their annual spring break and will face perennial power Hawaii at 3 p.m. HST on Wednesday, March 6.
