The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (15-6, 0-0 CWPA West) will play six games in two days as it hosts three CWPA Western Division foes and the Wolverine Invitational this weekend (Fri-Sat., March 12-13) at Canham Natatorium. Michigan will play Gannon at 6:30 p.m. and Mercyhurst at 8 p.m. on Friday (March 12) before taking on Salem International on Saturday (March 13) at 11:10 a.m. The rest of Saturday's slate is devoted to the Wolverine Invitational with U-M opening against Iona at 10 a.m. Following an interlude for the league game, Michigan will face Grove City at 12:15 p.m. and Siena at 7 p.m.

Michigan at the CWPA League Games -- Michigan is a perfect 14-0 when hosting the CWPA League Games. Michigan went 6-0 when hosting the 2009 division contests and was unbeaten in eight games played under the Southern Division banner in 2001 and 2003. The Wolverines, who have not lost a league game since the 2007 season, boast a 63-3 record all-time against divisional foes.

Michigan at the Wolverine Invitational-- Michigan will host the sixth annual midseason invitational. The Wolverine Invitational began in 2005 and has been played in March each season since then. Michigan boasts an 18-4 record in the invitational.

High Five -- U-M is looking to earn the No. 1 seed at the 2010 CWPA Western Division Championship (April 24) with its fifth regular-season division title. The Wolverines have gone undefeated in the division in each of the last two seasons to claim a seat at the top of the standings.

New Look Division -- The CWPA Western Division got a bit of a makeover during the offseason when the CWPA announced the creation of a women's varsity Division III structure within the conference. The re-alignment leaves U-M in the west with Gannon, Indiana, Mercyhurst and Salem International. Michigan will play its final CWPA league game against the Hoosiers on April 3 at Canham Natatorium. That contest will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network

Hardware Store -- Junior Alison Mantel (Miami, Fla./Gulliver) and freshman Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) were named CWPA Western Division Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Mantel had eight goals, seven assists and six steals, while Adamson made 20 saves in three victories.

Leading the Conference -- Alison Mantel's 62 points this season are tops in the CWPA. With a 15-point weekend, she surpassed Hartwick's Jessica McKee for the conference lead. Mantel also has a league-best 27 assists. Freshman Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) is also leading the CWPA with 47 steals this season.

Going to be a TV Star -- Michigan's showdown with Indiana in the CWPA Western Division regular-season finale will be broadcast to a national audience on the Big Ten Network. The game, set for 1 p.m. on April 3 at Canham Natatorium, will be shown on same-day tape delay at 5 p.m. For channel listings in your area, visit
