Throughout the summer, each player among Michigan water polo's incoming freshman class will be highlighted during the First Look Series.

Presley Pender (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor) capped her final prep season with several accolades that included her fourth consecutive USA Water Polo Academic All-American award.

One of the eight early signees in November, Pender helped lead her team to a CIF Division I Southern Section Championship title as a senior. She was also named to the Daily Pilot Water Polo Dream Team and the All-Sunset League First Team. Pender was the captain of the team after gaining MVP honors while on the freshman and junior varsity teams.

In two years on the varsity level, Pender finished with 91 goals, 52 assists and 81 steals, including career marks of 46 goals and 36 steals in her final year.

During the early signing period, U-M water polo head coach Matt Anderson said, "Presley Pender is going to fit in perfectly. She's coming from Newport Beach, and we've had very good success with Newport Harbor players. She's captain of her high school team, so that gives you an idea of the type of leadership that she'll bring. She comes from a wonderful family, and Presley is going to have a very nice college career."
