ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista), Lauren Colton (Tustin, Calif./Tesoro) and Kelsey Nolan (San Jose, Calif./Leland) of the University of Michigan water polo team were each named today (Thursday, June 28) to the 2012 All-America honorable mention list by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).
The accolade marks the third straight year Golden has received honorable mention, helping her become the fifth Wolverine to earn three ACWPC All-America honors in their career. Colton and Nolan each garnered the first All-America accolade of their career.
Golden, who played in all 35 games this season, led the Wolverines with a career-best 108 points with a team- and career-best 70 goals to go with 37 assists and 85 steals. For her season efforts, she was named the CWPA Western Division Player of the Year, an all-division first team selection and an Eastern Championship All-Tournament team member. During the season, she was recognized as CWPA Player of the Week twice and CWPA Defensive Player of the Week once.
Colton played in all 35 games while earning CWPA Western Division first team honors. She led the Wolverines with 52 drawn kickouts, scored 41 goals, collected 20 assists and tallied 23 steals. Nolan, who earned CWPA Western Division first team honors and all-tournament second team honors at the Eastern Championships, played in all 35 games and was second on the team with 69 goals while adding 48 steals and 30 assists.
Overall, 12 different Wolverines have earned 26 total All-America honors from the ACWPC.
