Williams Commits to Wolverines for 2012 Season

Nov. 18, 2010

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan water polo head coach Matt Anderson announced the signing of utility Beth Williams (Carlsbad, Calif.) to a National Letter of Intent today (Thurs., Nov. 18). Williams will join the Wolverines for the 2012 season.

"We are excited to have Beth become a Michigan Wolverine. When I saw Beth play, I saw the attributes that have made the Michigan program strong. She is versatile on offense, athletic and she is physical on defense." Anderson said. "A big selling point for Beth came to light when she came out to visit and interacted with the team; she realized it is extremely hard to beat a Michigan education. That fit in with her lofty educational goals while still having big athletic goals as well. We are excited and very happy that she is going to be wearing the Maize and Blue."

Williams, a two-year letterwinner, helped Carlsbad High School to a second place finish in the California Interscholastic Federation Division I playoffs. She is a two-time USA Water Polo All-Academic honoree, boasting better than a 4.0 GPA each year. Williams has also earned three varsity letters for swimming, taking home all-league honors in the 200 freestyle relay in 2010.

Michigan will graduate a six-member senior class following the 2011 campaign.
