Q U O T E S

Michigan Head Coach Mike McGuire
On his overall thought on today's race ... "We lucked out -- it was a great day to run with the rain holding off. This is a little cold for standing around, but it's actually perfect for distance running and that was reflected in the times. It was a combination of preparation and hitting the course on a good day. I was very encouraged. That was a really nice win for Anna Pasternak. She's done a nice job as a redshirt freshman for us. She's run on this course before and this was a big PR compared to what she ran out here before. It's indicative of her good training. Kaitlyn Patterson I thought did a good job. More than likely, this is going to be her last collegiate race. I thought she really got in there and competed hard and finished up on a high note. I was really encouraged by our two middle distance runners, Meg Bellino and Devon Hoppe. They did some things that I've seen in their preparation and they put it together out here on race day. And this isn't really their forum -- this is a stepping stone to what we feel they will excel at on that track, and that is middle distance running. They're stronger than they've ever been and I think that will be reflected in some big PRs in some middle distance races during indoor and outdoor season."

On the entire track team coming to support the girls in uniform ... "It's an uplifting feeling for the people on our cross country team. We're out doing a lot of training now and we're separate from the track team right now because we're in a different part of our season. They're all going up to East Lansing next weekend and cheering loudly at the Big Ten meet, so we're hoping to have a good cheering squad that can compete with Michigan State's legion of people. I think it's a great bonding experience for the track athletes and the cross country athletes. The track athletes see what we're doing in the fall and know that we're going to be contributing to a new cause during the indoor and outdoor season when we all come together, so we're really excited about that."
