ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 2012 Big Ten and NCAA Great Lakes Region champion University of Michigan women's cross country team announced its eight-event schedule for the 2013 season today (Tuesday, May 7). The Wolverines will begin the season by hosting the annual Michigan Open at Hudson Mills Metropark on Friday, Aug. 30, in Dexter, Mich.
Admission for the Michigan Open is free, however, a $5 daily vehicle entry fee is charged at Hudson Mills Metropark.
Following the season opener, Michigan will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to preview the Big Ten Championships course at the Purdue Invitational on Sept. 13.
The Wolverines will return to the Rim Rock Farm Classic at Kansas for the second straight year on Oct. 5 before previewing the NCAA Championships course at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet on Oct. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Prior to the conference meet, the Maize and Blue will participate in the annual EMU Fall Classic on Oct. 25, which will also be held at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. This year's Big Ten Championships will be hosted by Purdue University on Nov. 3 in West Lafayette, Ind., while the NCAA Great Lakes Regional will take place on Nov. 15 at the University of Wisconsin.
U-M will conclude its season at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Under head coach Mike McGuire's guidance, the 2012 Wolverines captured the Big Ten championship and their second straight NCAA Great Lakes Region title before finishing fifth at the NCAA Championships.
