
Wolverines to Close Fall at Moraine Intercollegiate

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Reaching its fall finale, the University of Michigan men's golf team will close its early schedule by traveling to Kettering, Ohio, for the Moraine Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 13-14). Hosted by Miami (Ohio), the two-day, 54-hole event will be played at Moraine Country Club, which is slated to be set up as a par-71 course, measuring 6,916 yards.

• The Moraine Intercollegiate field will be made up of 14 teams, including Bowling Green, Connecticut, Dayton, Illinois, Iowa, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Missouri, Ohio State, Penn State, Rhode Island, VCU, Wright State and Xavier.
• U-M will travel five starters for its fall finale, featuring a sophomore-heavy lineup. RJ Arone, Dean Muratore, Nilay Naik and Nicolas Simon will anchor the Wolverines' starting group, while freshman Jordan Hwang rounds out the five.
• Through four fall events, Michigan averages 279.64 per round, posting eight sub-280 team rounds in 11 total rounds this season. The fall campaign has been highlighted by five rounds under 280, including a program record–tying 267 (-21) in the final round of the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
• In its first three 54-hole events this fall, Michigan is a combined 72-under par, recording three consecutive sub-par team totals — 822 (-42) at the Island Resort Intercollegiate, 839 (-25) at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational and 835 (-5) at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate. The Wolverines are averaging 832.00 per event during that stretch.
• Michigan's starting five has combined for 30 under-par rounds. Overall, the Wolverines have produced 35 sub-par rounds and five at par. Collectively, the Wolverines average 71.65 strokes per round this season.
• Michigan has recorded 12 sub-par finishes across its last 20 total 54-hole events. Overall, the Wolverines are averaging nearly two strokes under par with a 213.55 team scoring average. Dean Muratore posted the season low with his record-setting 196 (-14) at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate -- a U-M program record and just the second sub-200 total ever.
• As he continues to roll through the fall, Arone has posted 10 of 11 rounds under par while carrying a 69.18 scoring average. His lone round above par came with a 72 (+2) in the final round of the Jim DeLapa Collegiate. With four straight sub-par 54-hole totals, Arone has recorded four consecutive top-15 finishes, highlighted by a career-best tie for fifth at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational (208, -8). He also fired a career-low 205 (-11) at the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
• Muratore has opened the season with eight of 11 rounds under par, posting an impressive 69.73 scoring average. He fired a career-low 64 (-6) in the second round of the Jim DeLapa Collegiate, helping him capture his first career individual title. Muratore led the Wolverines in two events this fall.
• A common theme among the Wolverines' starters this fall has been racking up sub-par rounds. Following team leaders Arone and Muratore, Simon has recorded seven sub-par tallies in 11 rounds, while Naik has added six of his own.
